FAQ networkmigration

Do you have questions about your transfer from another provider to Proximus?
See the answers to the most frequently asked questions here.

  • I have received a new Proximus SIM card, what now?

The Proximus SIM card you received is not active yet
The actual starting date of your migration to Proximus can be found in an accompanying letter or in previous communication via e-mail.

For technical reasons, the migration from your mobile phone number at your current provider to Proximus may take up to three weekdays.
As long as the actual migration has not been carried out yet you can continue to use the SIM card of your current provider.
You must always keep the new Proximus SIM card with you.

  • How will I know when the new Proximus SIM card can be used?

As soon as an outbound call or a text message is no longer possible with the SIM card of your current operator you can start using the new Proximus SIM card.
The time span between the deactivation of your current SIM card and the activation of your new Proximus SIM card can take up to half an hour.
If you do not immediately have a connection with the Proximus SIM card, switch off your phone and try again later until your phone connects to the Proximus network.

  • Will my PIN code remain the same with the new Proximus SIM card?

The personal PIN code of your current SIM card will not be taken over on the new Proximus SIM card.
The new PIN code can be found on the Proximus SIM card adapter (size of a bankcard)

  • Change the PIN code of your SIM card

Change the PIN code of your SIM card using a short code or via your mobile phone menu.
For your security, avoid using obvious PIN codes such as 1111 or 1234.

    • Via a short code
Type in the short code **04*Actual PIN code*New PIN code*New PIN code# on your mobile phone and press the call key.
Instead of Actual PIN code, enter your current PIN code and instead of New PIN code, enter your new 4-digit PIN code.

    • Via your mobile phone menu
Go to Settings > Security > SIM card lock > Change PIN code.
Enter your actual PIN code first and then enter a new code of your choice.
If your mobile phone has a different menu, please consult the manual of your device or the manufacturer’s website.
  • Did you enter the wrong pin code three times?

In that case your SIM card will be blocked and you will need to enter your PUK code to unblock your SIM card.
Where can you find your PUK code?

The PUK code can be found on the Proximus SIM card adapter (size of a bankcard) or can be obtained via Proximus customer service.

Be careful when entering your PUK code!
If you enter the wrong PUK code 10 times, your SIM card will be blocked permanently.
In that case you will need to request a new SIM card at the telecom team of your company.
You will keep your telephone number.

  • Lost SIM card?

In that case, have your old SIM card blocked and request a new SIM card free of charge, at the telecom team of your company.
You will keep your telephone number.
